The Nursery

Dolphin Room (0 - 2 years)

Our Dolphin room accommodates children from 6 weeks to around 24 months. It is an open and spacious environment with a range of open ended resources for babies to explore as they please. Everything is accessible to them to promote, as early as possible, independence and their own identities.

Staff based in this room are highly trained professionals who understand the children's needs as well as providing a happy and secure environment for the children to play and explore. We also understand the importance of building close trusting relationships with the children and their parents.

Penguin Room (2 - 3 years)

The Penguin room is based on the ground floor and caters for children aged 2 - 3 years working on a staff ratio of one staff member to every four children. The aim of the staff in the room is to provide a high standard of care to aid the individual child's learning and development. The children's day is structured to encourage each child to learn and recognise colours, shapes and numbers and develop their language skills at their own pace, as well as encouraging their physical development through outdoor play.

We love to involve others in our learning experiences - we regularly invite the local outreach worker to come in and support our needs (and our families!) alongside our keyworkers, as well as our parents and carers. This means our children's learning experiences become continuous across a range of environments.

Polar Bear Room (3 - 5 years)

Our pre-school room is known as our Polar Bears. We have our pre-school children spread across two separate rooms to accommodate for their developing individuality. Using the two environments allows us to cater for their needs and thoughts more tailored and on a more concentrated basis.

Areas within the room include a 'lending library' (children 'check out' books to take home and share their interest in literacy with family), a school roleplay (to practice skills needed for school), a Dinosaur den (to develop narrative play) and a 'Boutique' (to create and promote imagination and roleplay skills). Children have daily access to the outdoor environment - this allows opportunities to explore the world around us and question our observations, developing and extending our vocabularies!

Out of Schools Club

At West Park Kindergarten we offer out of school care where we aim to make your life easier by looking after your children and helping you to get them to and from school.

Our Breakfast Club runs from 7.30am - 9.00am with children being offered a range of breakfasts' before being accompanied to school by a qualified staff member at their designated time. We also offer a After Schools club, which runs from 3.00pm - 6.00pm, where children are collected once again and brought back to the setting for a two course tea and activities designed to suit their age and development. During school holidays, children from schools are welcome to do half days or full days which includes a range of activities, outings and all meals.

We currently drop off and collect from Ashley Primary School and St. Peter's and Pauls RC Primary School.
